Editing and Critical Reflection

On Wednesday, Jaylina, Faith, and I reviewed the video I had finished editing at home that Monday night. We agreed that this was the final video that we would turn in as our final grade for the project. I then emailed our final product to Mrs. Desantis. After we submitted our assignment, Jaylina and Faith worked on their Critical Reflection PowerPoint, while I worked on some packets for AICE US History. I am now working on my own Critical Reflection PowerPoint.

Recording and Editing Part2

Today students didn’t have school, so Faith Jaylina and I decided to get some friends together and re-film our music video, because we didn’t like our last footage. We got to Hagen Park at Noon and we’re filming with some friends until about 3:30pm. After we finished filming at the other park, we went to our other locations. When we finished filming for the day, we went home, and I brought home my camera equipment and I started editing. At the moment I am still editing, but all i have to finish is placing our audio into our music video.

Editing Pt.1

On Monday, our group had started uploading and transferring all the video files from our folder on the computer onto our iMovie. As we started piecing the videos together in the iMovie, we realized that we didn’t follow the storyboard correctly. We tried to piece it together completely, but we were just missing so many important pieces/scenes that we decided to have a fresh start of filming. We started texting our friends to see who is available on the day we are filming. We made it clear to one another that we need to strictly follow the storyboard in order to make this work in time for the due date.

Filming

On Thursday, Faith, Jaylina, Kevin, and I started filming scenes for our music video. I was not in attendance at school, so I met up with them at Hagen Park down the street from the school. When we met up, we tested out and filmed our car scene for the beginning of the music video. After we had gotten two takes just incase the first wasn’t as good as the second, we continued to film within the park. We filmed us on the swings and us on the playground and us playing around with a tennis ball, baseball, frisbee and bouncy ball. We played around as if we weren’t recording so it looked realistic. When we had thought we finished filming the park scene, we drove to Dairy Queen and got some cold drinks so we could film us together as pictured on the storyboard. Finally, we filmed at the movie theatre for our final scene in the music video and then we went home.

Psycho

Last class, we finished the movie Psycho. In the movie Psycho, Marion steals $40,000 and runs away with the money. She ends up at the Bates Motel one night and becomes friendly with the man running the motel. She then proceeds to be killed at the motel, but the killer wasn’t who we expected it to be. The private investigator on Marlon’s case for her grand theft followed her tracks and also ended up being murdered. The sister gets in on the investigation with Marlon’s boyfriend, and they lead to find that the man’s mother was in fact dead as the private investigator had said, but the man owning the motel had killed them both. The owner seemed to have split personality disorder and believed that his mother was alive, but within himself.

Psycho

In class today, we started watching the black and white movie Psycho. The main character of this movie is Marion Crane, and she starts out the movie robbing her boss of $40,000 cash that she was supposed to put in the bank. She takes the money and leaves town, but becomes very paranoid of her situation when she falls asleep in her car and a cop comes to the window the next morning. She believes he has become suspicious, and decides to go exchange her car with a different state license plate, specifically California. She continues her escape from her boss and whoever is thought to be after her, and comes upon the Bates Motel. The rest of the movie will be described in the next Blog.

Storyboard for Music Video

Today in class, Jaylina and I discussed the addition of Faith into our group for the music video. We decided to FaceTime Faith during class to discuss the setting and activities involved during our video. We also decided that the cuts Jaylina and I set up were too jumpy and very random in certain spots, so we changed the editing of the sound to start at about 0:14 of the original song and go until 2:08 of the original to get about 1:54 of the music. While we discussed the storyboard, I worked on the Mac and tried to get my purchased song onto the computer. The computer is a few updates behind my iPhone, and I somehow got it transferred onto the computer fully. At the end, Jaylina took the storyboard home because I had practice and it would get done quicker if she did it, so that’s how we ended our class.

Music Video Pt. 2

Jaylina and I continued our extensive research of our taste in music to set our music video with one song. We went through all of Panic! At The Disco’s songs and finally came to a decision. Our decision is the song Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind). We decided on that song because of how long the instrumentals are, how catchy the chorus is, and how we could take out bits of the chorus without taking away the meaning of the song. We have started to plan our storyboard in our heads, and will draw it out next class. We are also hoping to start editing the song to fit the time frame given.

The Start of Our Music Video

For our music video project, my group as of right now is Jaylina and I, with the possibility of Faith and Leo. Jaylina and I decided on a song for our video. We chose Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind) by Panic! At The Disco, and we have our video planned in our heads. We started trying to cut down the song to be under 2 minutes to fit our given time frame. We got the song down to 2 minutes and about 8-13 seconds. We also are planning who is going to be in the video and where the video is going to be set.
